Award Winning Designs

The London Arts Project hosts an annual Fundraising event by enlisting local celebrities, business people and politicians to create works of art and then distributes them to local custom picture framers for framing. The framed pieces are then displayed at the Arts Project and are voted on by the public to determine the most creative and talented framer.

Julie's Total Framing Concept was awarded London's #1 Most Artrageous Framer 2002 in London, for framing artwork created by Kate Young from The New PL. The winning piece featured multiple coloured mats with multi-angles, hand carving and a design that literally grew from the artwork. The piece also showcased Julie's ability to create multi-angled hand joined frames.

Julie's was awarded the same honour for Most Artrageous Framer and received First Place again in 2003 for "The Australian Outback", an enlarged photograph taken by Michelle Campbell from Parkwood Hospital. This stunning piece featured hand painted sand matting, stained glass, dimensional items (a hand painted stone, and a boomerang) floating within the piece. Julie also attached a Diggerydoo to the side that can be removed to play and be hung back on with leather strapping. The true essence of the framing was captured by stacking two frames together to create the needed depth to hide a mini cassette recorder behind the frame that plays aboriginal music. You can really feel as though you are in the Outback when you experience this piece. Julie's signature multiangle frames and hand carved mats are also part of this award winning design.

In 2003 Julie also won 3rd place in The Artrageous Competition for an additional piece created by Russ Monteith one of London's City Counsellors. 2003 proved to be an exciting year. Julie was also awarded the Presidents Choice Award from The London Chamber of Commerce for her work within the local business community.
